Summary

MSc conservator specialised in waterlogged archaeological wood conservation with a PhD focused in waterlogged anoxic wood degradation. Experience with conservation research in academia, practical conservation, and teaching/academic supervision within conservation science. Skilled within wood material characterization, degradation and species identification, (micro)spectroscopy, light and electron microscopy. Primary research interests lies within wood science and deterioration of organic archaeological materials focused on how deterioration affects preservation of the materials and how the deteriorated material interacts with conservation treatments.

Oct. 2014      PhD in Forest, Nature, and Biomass, University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Science, Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management. Thesis title: Microscopic and spectroscopic characterisation of waterlogged archaeological softwood from anoxic environments.

March 2009   MSc in Conservation Science, School of Conservation, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Denmark.  Master’s thesis: Examination of azelaic acid as an impregnation agent for waterlogged archaeological wood.
