The goal of this PhD is to expand our understanding of how the characterisation of waterlogged wood (decay type, degradation extent, and wood anatomy) and the treatment method (molecular weight and final concentration) impact the conservation of polyethylene glycol treated waterlogged archaeological wood. In specific in regards to the occurrence of internal collapse and the location and distribution of PEG within treated wood objects.
