Abstract

The chapter 'An Atomization of the Home: Towards a Compound Dwelling Interior' explores a speculative, micro home designed for two artists: a writer and a musician, as a direct response to a crisis in domestic architecture amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic. The chapter offers a case study addressing the practicalities of what is needed for co-habitants to work remotely, while also exploring fundamental notions of what makes a home. It considers how, through utilizing every space, especially liminal zones, and spacing rooms appropriately, conflicting requirements can be met.
