Description

Clean, sharp forms, flat roofs and few details – box architecture is a predominant expression in housing construction today. By virtue of the simplicity of constructions and materials, the design language has its construction advantages, but the omission of basic construction protection, e.g. in the form of sufficient roof pitch, roof overhang or good coverings, presents significant construction challenges, especially when it comes to moisture. Senior adviser at the Construction Damage Fund, Jens Dons, has been visited in the studio by Anne Beim, who is a professor at the Royal Danish Academy - Architecture, Design, Conservation. Together they talk about the technical challenges of industrialisation in construction n particular - 'box construction'.
