Abstract

This year, our conversations will center around Collaborative Processes and the Role of the Graphic Designer, the Editor and the Publisher. Exhibition highlights include the show “Die Blauen Bücher” on the publication history of Verlag Langewiesche, curated by Anne Elisabeth Toft, and an in depth-study of the classic photobook “Lisboa, Cidade Triste e Alegre”, which has been prepared by Jose Luis Neves. There will also be a selection of recent books and zines from The Library Project in Dublin brought to us by its Director Ángel Luis González. Following the shows on Japanese and Korean photobooks in previous years, this edition will feature Chinese books and zines curated by Yining He. Also on show is an exhibition presenting Danish landscape architect, Stig Lennart Andersson’s and publisher, Klaus Gjørup’s award winning 2014 Venice architecture biennale catalogue “Empowerment of Aesthetics” curated by Anne Elisabeth Toft.
A special feature will be Thomas Wiegand’s presentation on propaganda books and his seminal publication “Deutschland im Fotobuch”. Finally, you will also find the winners of the Nordic Dummy Award and the Dummy Selection of FotobookFestival Kassel, as in previous years.
The exhibitions are supplemented by artist talks, debates and conversations, during the weekend event, which will start with a keynote talk by Markus Schaden, director of the Photobook Museum in Cologne.
