Research Lab 1 researches in methods to qualify the current transformation processes and address future needs and potentials within the field of architecture and urbanism.
The research is working on the challenges of physical transformations and changes across scale, periods and architectural fields, which include regional networks, landscapes, urban spaces, buildings, small intimate spaces and objects with a particular focus on cultural heritage and the built heritage of the welfare state. It implies value-based discussions on urban development, densification, sustainability, nature restoration, conservation, cultural heritage, etc.
Professor Tom Nielsen works as coordinator in Research Lab 1
