Abstract

GONE - -Echoes of Absence
A film by Siv Bøttche and Claudia Carbone

The film is a part of an artistic development project by the architects, Rikke Jørgensen, Siv Bøttcher and Claudia Carbone and made specific to the conference.

The film expresses the fact that over time radical changes take place in the Danish (urban) landscape. Architecture that has been the framework for meaningful forms of life is abandoned. Something is considered cultural heritage and is preserved, while others, in a silent opt-out, decay and dematerialize at the pace of nature or are demolished by mechanical forces.
The film consists of registrations, drawings and text that ask which aesthetically performative properties does the decayed architecture contain? Through an architectural production, conditions of special changes in the Danish (urban) landscape are exposed and operationalized. The changes have been maintained in a review (2013 – 2018) with the same places in Thyholm, with a five-year interval.
