The Representation and Visual Culture of the Welfare-City

Project Details

Description

A project spanning several years in the project group consisting of: Tom Nielsen, Karen Olesen, Claus Peder Pedersen, Jannie Rosenberg Bendtsen, Anne Elisabeth Toft, Anders Troelsen.
The idea of urbanity and the city is inseparable from its narrative forms. This research group wants to investigate the representation and visual culture of the Welfare-City. It is a study, which have, so far, been largely ignored by architects, architectural historians and theoreticians. However, with the recent transformations of the many New Towns of the 1960s and 1970s this study is critical and draws countless research perspectives touching upon global themes such as for instance cultural heritage and collective memory.
