- Environment's influence on material's longevity, with a special focus on cultural heritage objects.
- The impact of air pollution on materials.
- The dynamics of air and climate: from outdoor atmospheric chemistry and meteorology to the micro-environments found indoors.
- Energy, sustainability and the operation of museum buildings.
- Climate control in buildings by active or passive means, including the special needs in historic houses.
- Living conditions, health, indoor environments, and personal exposures, for historic and prehistoric people (e.g., in Viking Age houses).
