Description

(X)TENSION was an architectural and artistic installation created during the “Abrigos sensíveis” (sensitive shelters) workshop in July 2014 and displayed during the CAC4 conference. The object consisted of a 1:1 prototype of an animated and responsive shelter designed with principles of parametric architecture and digital fabrication.

This object was an experiment to ‘amplify’ and make visible the voices of non-humans (plants). The responsive shelter was connected with robots that read plants’ reactions due to human interaction (sound, heat, touch). And the shelter moved according to the data input from the plant’s response.

This project is a result of the partnership between the Nucleus of Art and New Organisms - NANO (School of Arts - EBA) and the Lab of Models and Digital Fabrication – LAMO from Architecture and Urbanism Faculty (FAU) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
