Instagram post @thepalaceoftypographicmasonry Models in ‘An Alphabet of Cases’ I The Palace of Typographic Masonry asked Studio Joost Grootens to make a connection between the cosmographies in the collection and contemporary information design. The studio designed a building board (in the form of a poster/brochure called ‘Space Atlas – Chapter M’) of a a series of models of the Moon and Mars as an expression of the area between mystical mathematics and hard science. The history of cartography has seen many attempts at developing 2D projections of celestial objects. In the design Studio Joost Grootens accepts the impossibility of this and instead offer multiple versions in parallel. Three models composed of triangles show the Moon and Mars in the same scale.
