Geometrías fresadas: Dibujando para la manufactura usando el dibujo y el proceso

Publikation: KonferencebidragPaperForskningpeer review

Abstract

Why is there such disconnect between the visual mechanics of computational representation and the articulation of the same geometry via physical manufacturing?

Why do so many spend so much time trying to erase the marks of physical manufacturing (‘we must physically smooth this surface down, down, down to perfection’) instead of aligning these marks to the very process through which the original computational representation was born?

What if the virtual representations of computational geometry were treated as instruction towards physical manufacturing? What if we extract and employ these ‘virtual articulators’ as a critical part of the manufacturing process, linking virtual representation with physical production?

Why don’t we DRAW the manufacturing process so that our products WEAR their process?
