Abstract
Constructing buildings follow specific sequences and processes, which lends it-self well to a combination of parametric workflows and fabrication technologies such as robotics and CNC machines. Architects and researchers have begun to adopt these workflows leading to the design and manufacturing of building sys-tems for the AEC industry. This paper adds to this emerging field by discussing an interdisciplinary workflow and prototypical process developed for a construc-tion system in which an industrial robot arm processes off-the-shelf standardised building components. The workflow combines a structural model with a fabrica-tion model into one unified system, thus improving the manufacturing process from structurally valid building to the fabricated piece.
