Abstract
The so-called 'green turn' in the building industry has produced a new class of sustainability experts and professionals, sometimes working in parallel with architects, sometimes they are mono-specialised architects, while other times they perform the work of making a building design 'green' after the architect’s work is done. Given these trends, it is important to ask whether sustainability is indeed an area that is best left to this new class of technocratic experts and professionals or if every architect should engage it as an integral part of the design process.
