Abstract

Sustainable fashion requires better fits.On the exhibition '70 % Less CO2' you can explore the project 'Print and Fit for Circularity'.

Fit and sizing issues are the main reason for an estimated 70% of unworn garments in private wardrobes and the 60% return rate of new clothing. Less than 10% of garments today fit actual consumer body shapes. A challenge today is that the fit worsens when it deviates from the standard sizes in the fashion industry. Therefore, the project investigates how widening the variety of sizes can create better fits.Better fit and sizing are key to prolonging garments’ phases of use. The ‘fit and sizing’- project – conducted in collaboration with GANNI and financed by the Lifestyle & Design Cluster – investigates how adjustments of schemes for print and fit in the design team of a fashion brand can create more valued garments, reduce waste and better utilise resources than is the case today.
