    Abstract

Abstract. – The earliest record of Palaeophis ever found in Denmark is here based on vertebrae described from the Paleocene/Eocene Stolleklint Clay of the Isle of Mors (northern Denmark). Although much smaller, they appear quite similar to the Eocene vertebra described from the Fur Formation in the same area, and all belong to the ‘primitive’ grade of Palaeophis species, although a more precise identification cannot be provided at the moment.
