The Role of Material Evidence in Architectural Research - drawings, models, experiments.

A research seminar for PhD students by Professor Anne Beim and Associate Professor mette Ramsgaard Thomsen, 3 - 4 November 2010. ECTS point 4 In this seminar we will discuss the wide range of material evidence apparent in architectural ´knowledge production. From the speculative to the analytical, the empirical to the experimental our aim is to query the possible correlations between the many forms that material evidence takes in architectural thinking. The seminar days (3-4 Nov 2010) will be open for faculty and research staff. The seminar is part of a research course for architects and designers. The seminar is preceded by two course meetings in which PhD students prepare and discuss their work in respect to given texts on the seminar topics. These preparations will lead to a formal presentation of their work as part of the seminar. The final day we will reflect and evaluate the seminar presentations.
