Description

The In-between 2013-14 Series: From Studio to Laboratory. Research and collaborative processes – drew a parallel between architectural studio and laboratory, which – according to Bruno Latour – is far from what is commonly considered as a hermetically sealed space of scientific investigation, and targets a contingent and relational space which is open and responsive to external influences (Latour 1983). This notion provided a framework which each of the invited speakers – practitioners and academics – illustrated through their work and particular form of practice. The series sought an expanded definition of the architectural studio, focusing on the dynamic and reciprocal dependences between theory and praxis, on research embedded in the projects development, as well as on trans-disciplinary correspondences. It aimed at dissolving traditionally established boundaries between different disciplines and fields of operation – which are today interconnected, interchanging and interacting at all levels.
