Abstract

The SDG Mobile is a large-scale hanging bamboo sculpture, developed through collaborative workshops involving architects, students, researchers and art conservationists from the Royal Danish Academy, and bamboo specialists from Indonesia and the UK. The suspended bamboo structure is held in balance by 17 sculptural forms made from a starch-based biopolymer painted with natural pigments. Each form represents one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and is grouped on moving bamboo arms by the themes of the UIA congress. The mobile embodies the interrelatedness of these global goals and the necessity for cross-collaboration to achieve them.
