Abstract

The box with Co-Creation Cards is a collection of methods developed and used by practitioners and theorists working in the fields of design and innovation. The methods spring from multiple disciplines and serve multidisciplinary teamwork. The principal purpose of the Co-Creation Cards is to create a collective process language to be used by individuals, teams, leaders, and facilitators in any type of creative work.

The collection consists of 89 methods. They have been designed in the form of individual cards in order to facilitate collaboration. Each card consists of a picture side and a text side explaining the method and providing an example of how to apply it. The cards are classified as six categories covering activities of the creative process: Collaborate, Collect, Comprehend, Conceptualise, Create, and Communicate.

The method descriptions are meant to be concise and thus they may not do full justice to the knowledge and experience on which they are founded. In some cases, I have referred to my source of information. However, the references are only a small selection. Many of the methods have a history that goes far back, and within this practice-oriented frame it would lead too far to acknowledge everyone, who has influenced the development of one particular approach.

All of the methods can be used in different ways and at various stages of any creative process. They change with the people who use them and the context within which they operate, which means that there is a steady development of new ways of working. This is why there are blank cards in the deck. I hope the methods will serve as a springboard for you to experience, experiment, and develop your own methods.
