Abstract
The works are mappings from The Little Blue Atlas - mapping Denmark from a waters perspective focusing on changing waterscapes such as the sea-level rise and increasing storm surges. The Danish coastal zone and coastal cities were visualised through the lens of sea-coastal city-land relations. Five mappings printed on textile:
1) A Shared Topography/Terrain. The map connects the inland topography with the sea´s bathymetry as a shared terrain without marking what is sub-surface or terrestrial.
2) From Coastline to Coastzone. The coastline is a static administrative line. In reality, the coast is a dynamic zone with different levels of wetness and salination.
3) Coastal Cities of the Future. Rising sea levels represent a spatial uncertainty for coastal cities from now and in the coming centuries.
4) Interconnected Cities. Many coastal cities receive water from the sea, ground, sky and backwater. The water flow forms connections from the coast to the hinterlands.
5) Coastal Habitats. Both human and non-human species depend on the coast. As the sea rises, the coexistence between coastal species needs attention and new practices.
The works are developed in the context of the research project Byerne of det stigende havvand - nye løsninger (AAA collaboration with KU, DTU) funded by Realdania
