Abstract

The essence of the art of building is an organic concept. Therefore, with the appearance and strong presence of new technologies, to update the processes the construction industry entails, is essential. This document aims to evaluate the impact the Tectonic concept assumes in the design and quality of the works carried out today by means of the study of timber details. This evaluation is made through an investigation, first theoretical and later experimental, which focuses on the importance of timber joints and details as creators of complex structures. Based on the smallest unit of the construction design, a methodology that defines a regulated procedure for the creation of spatial, structural, and formal quality, taking advantage of new technologies and tools, is proposed. Throughout this investigation, the methodology evaluates the new era of timber details, based on the experience and knowledge of figures such as Scarpa or Frascari.
