Beskrivelse
In her talk, Else Skjold will set the scene for the current political framework for transition research for circularity and sustainability in Denmark that is currently in a very rapid development. On the basis of this she will elaborate her ideas behind firstly, the MA programme introduced September 2020 at the Royal Danish Academy named Fashion, Clothing & Textiles; New Landscapes for Change, and secondly, the launch of a new research centre September 2022, KLOTHING – Centre for Apparel, Textiles & Ecology Research.
With this she will be posing the question of what kind of cloth culture she envisions to be compatible with a circular and sustainable future, and how this is linked with 1) Danish design traditions for user engagement and a deep understanding of use properties of design and 2) the Danish tradition for cooperative business models between small-scale stakeholders and local communities.
