My questions: Point of departure: The character of an atmosphere can be determined only if you expose yourself to it, in situ, in place and time. Can descriptions/characterizations of atmospheres be transported/communicated to other people in other places and times (ex situ) as a ‘presencing’ of the atmosphere, which – somehow – resembles the in situ sensuous experience? Can descriptions ofatmospheres themselves be atmospheric so that we – somehow – can feel the in situ atmosphere in ex situ contexts? Can the concept of gesture help elucidate these questions? What could be the role of artistic research in this context?
