Urban Animals and Us: 3 different design experiments

    Publications: Non-textual formExhibitionResearchpeer-review

    Abstract

    1) The experiment A Birds View Perspective and the ‘The Birdcam’ device is meant to allow the birds to film and be in control of a video camera to literally give a birds view perspective of the local area of Helsingør.

    2) The 'Talk-in-to' experiment deals with communication as translations between species. But instead of teaching animals like the parrot to mimic and understand people, the sound conducted by humans become translated into non-human message through the ‘BirdFlute’.

    3) The experiment 'InterFed' explores power relationships through the device ‘PhotoTwin’ - that traps both animal and human everyday practices via photographs on attempted equal grounds. The camera device are triggered by the birds pecking taking one photo of the birds’ outdoor practices and one of the seniors’ indoor practices.
