Abstract
Departing from Friedrich Nietzsche's seminal work, The Birth of Tragedy, the article asks whether it is possible to continue the use of tragedy in a hermeneutic interpretation of the other classical Greek artistic forms, and, further, whether such a reading can reach general conclusions about the legacy of the classical period. The article thus investigate the following question: Does there exist a pithy visual counterpart to Greek tragedy? And can this image be formalized?
