The condemned building: redeemed in the collective memory

Publications: Contribution to conferencePaperResearchpeer-review

Abstract

Fulfilled transformations of abandoned buildings, as well as on the local discussions and on the exchange of memories they triggered. The collection of these memories is like a puzzle, which, once assembled, represents a sophisticated collage of varying relations between local people, the involved building, and the place. In short, the transformations constitute intentional catalysts of an exchange of memories of place among the local people, thus substantiating the preservation of the condemned building immaterially as a strengthened collective memory.
