Sufficient architecture: go slow when the world is pacing

Abstract

The reflections in this article unfold from a journey that follows material flows and life cycles of buildings, looking at the places of their extraction and production in Paris. The investigates diverse resource-conscious practices and the notion of longevity of buildings made out of natural materials, economically feasible transformations and situated renovations, carefully noticing varying velocities of their construction processes, systemic reversibilities and material endurances to reflect on architectural time matters.
