Sudema. Desenvolvimento urbano sustentavel do distrito urbano no. 3 Maputo Action 21. Estudo basico da Situacao das Casas no Distrito Urbano no. 3

Two Ngo's namely a Danish (OVE, organisation for Renewable Energy) and Livaningo an mozambican environmental NGO joined forces in 2007 and developed in partnership a project aimed at improving the urban envionment in a poor neighbourhood in Maputo Urban District 3.

In order to initiate the programme in  a scientifically  sound manner the project decided to embark on a research project in order to establish a common understanding of the environmental problems in the distict to be targetted by the project. 240 household were thus interviewed and all 240 houses and the immediate surroundings were surveyed by a gruop of students of architecture. Interviews were conducted by Livaningo activist that were proberly trained specifically for this activity beforehand. The resarch points to problems related to the provison of services herunder, Water & Sanitation, Waste management, drainage, security of tenure, energy and employment, education and health related problems.
