Abstract
The paper focuses on physical work environment, and how we can design a physical work environment that does not only seem playful in its visual expression, but actually also nudges employees towards a more creative mindset, and as a result, pushes the culture in the workplace to become more innovative.
The research project is developed in two stages, a pre-study with students from the Design School, and a case-study with a Danish company where we are developing new concepts for playful work environments. The study introduces a new approach to designing playful work environments, building on two graphical models described in the paper.
The study intends to exemplify how elements from play may be elicited through the design of a work environment, and provide knowledge of the impact that such design alterations have on company culture and employee engagement, providing managers with ideas and principles for nudge management.
