Abstract
In this essay Charlotte Bundgaard describes the vision of Le Corbusier's Dom-ino project as an icon of the modernist dream, strongly connected with its contemporary industrial possibilies. She proceeds to examine a number of other projects from the 1920's to the 1970's that are also based on a connection between rational methods of building production and an architectonic vision of freedom and flexibility, and concludes with af view into the consequences of the development of IT and hi-tech production methods for future building. It is no longer the end product, but the production process, which is standardised, and this has given us the means to produce a radically different architecture
