Abstract

Typically, research activities in architecture practices are dedicated to more traditional research-based practices. This article highlights the power and benefit of architecture practices establishing innovative research-arms, focusing on 3XN's research arm, GXN (“G” being for “green”), and the asking of ‘what if” questions that support and are relevant to practice. The article is based on a talk by Kasper Guldager Jensen at GXN/3XN at the "Changing Shape of Architectural Practice" conference about their design and research approach and methods.
