Abstract
Light rhythms introduce a way to deal with lighting as luminous operation, which works in spatial formation during time. The luminous operation is regarded as operation of light rhythms in a context, which is observed by a human being. Light rhythms operate by everything that gives out light; natural light, fire, and electric light, and the architectural approach expresses them by placing, framing, moving and accentuating them. The dissertation shows examples on light rhythms as natural phenomena and as part of architectural constructions in urban landscape.
