Abstract

In Hurup lies the former Krabbes Conditori (Krabbe’s Confectionery) in a house ready for demolition. Together with Teater Nordkraft and Thisted council, PhD Fellow Mo Krag stages the gradual disappearance of the building through an on-site installation. The installation is made of dissections and uncoverings, light, sound, pictures, and stories from the citizens of Hurup. The installation is located partly in the old confectionery in Hurup and partly at Teater Nordkraft, where the house in Hurup is mirrored in elements taken from the building itself. The ambition of the project is for the house to be the main character in a story that takes elements from the past, connects them to the present and helps prepare for an unpredictable future. The story of Krabbes Conditori will tell the story of greater societal developments in Denmark and all of Western Europe. The project is supported by Spar Nord Fonden, Kulturaftale Nordjylland, and Statens Kunstfond.
