Kapitlet omhandler arkitekten Gottlieb Bindesbølls rejse til Grækenland og Tyrkiet, som han i 1835-36 foretog sammen med maleren Martinus Rørbye. Kapitlet drøfter hans rejseskitser, forholdet til historien og rejsens betydning for hans efterfølgende produktion i Danmark. Kapitlet hænger sammen med en særudstilling på Davids Samling med titlen "Rørbye & Bindesbøll. Rejsen til Konstantinopel."

This chapter deals with architect Gottlieb Bindesbøll's journey to Greece and Turkey, which he undertook in 1835-36 together with painter Martinus Rørbye. The chapter discusses his travel sketches, his relationship to history and the significance of the journey for his subsequent work in Denmark. The chapter is linked to a special exhibition at the David Collection entitled "Rørbye & Bindesbøll. The Journey to Constantinople".
