Fur as Sustainable Material

Project Details

Description

Research program about sustainable potentials in fur, in collaboration between Design School Kolding and Kopenhagen Fur.
The program runs from August 2014-March 2016, and involves 4 post.doc. fellows from Design School Kolding. Together, the four participants cover aspects in relation to the design process, as this is "where it happens"; this is where designers make decisions about the use of raw materials, the durability of the design object, or what happens when the object is discarded by users. The program builds on sharing of knowledge between the research group and employees at Kopenhagen Fur. One of the outputs will be a report that sets out strategies for a more sustainable approach to the production, use, and waste management in relation to fur.
In my own project, I will look at how users experience wearing fur and how this fuels into industry practices, applying the wardrobe method from my PhD project. Apart from this, I am responsible for managing the project.
