Description
The aim of this project is to investigate painting on metal. The objects to be investigated are shields from The Museum of National History at Frederiksborg Castle in Denmark. The project will begin witn paint based on oil as binding medium and classic pigments on copper plates, followed by modern paints based on synthetic binders such as alkyd, acrylic and PVA with modern organic pigments. The final objective of the project is to get an understanding of the durability and degradation of modern paints on various metal bases.
