Landscape Transformation in the light of the New Climatic Regime: an urban landscape laboratory approach

Project Details

Description

This project is part of Landlabs, a doctoral network and collaborative initiative connecting six cities and six urban landscape laboratories across Europe. The project explores new design approaches in Landscape Architecture, in light of the 'New Climatic Regime', integrating notions of sustainability and beauty.
Using a Research Through Design (RTD) approach, the project combines a theoretical framework on interconnectedness with design scenarios to produce transferable knowledge.
Within this network, the research's initial focus in Aarhus, Denmark, is on Eskelunden: a strategic area that links the city centre to the river valley with a rich history of social and ecological transformation. Recent National Environmental initiatives as well as Municipal afforestation and Water-Nature park developments, provide a backdrop for examining broader landscape transformations in Denmark. Eskelunden and the river valley of Denmark's second-largest city serve as a living laboratory for exploring these changes at multiple scales.
