Diploma from the School of Architecture, The Royal Academy of fine Arts in Copenhagen 1967; post-graduate education at Atelier Tony Garnier, l'École des Beaux Arts, Paris 1968. KS has worked and co-operated with a series of major planning and architecture projects in her homeland as well as in USA, Greece, Italy and France.

From 1968 employed as assistant professor/scientific assistant by The School of Architecture. Took over the leadership of Study department 3D 1987-97 after arch.Prof. J.O.von Spreckelsen and functioned as Vice dean 1993-96. Now associate professor of Study Department 8, of Architecture, Experiment & technology. Guest-professor at College of Architecture and Urban Planning, University of Michigan + School of Architecture, Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh USA and Chalmers University, Architecture section, Gothenburg, Sweden.

Architectural guide for a series of post educational tours of architects and ingeneers and for students' study travels to several destinations in Scandinavia, rest of Europe, USA, Japan and Mexico. Many professional lectures in Denmark and abroad as well as papers for international conferences and symposia in England, France, Holland, Sweden, Italy, South Africa, USA, Japan a.o.

Lectures and courses of architecture, urban planning and design, the interplay of art and architecture + architectural theories of contemporary architecture. Partner in studio 90 drawing office 1973-87, since 1988 own consulting service and activities a.o. to the Ministery of Environment, urban renewal and head of the Advisory board for the development corporation of the Oerestad, a new urban quarter of Copenhagen. Further part of Cowi foundation board about the development af 'the office of the future' and analysis of the EHBS, Administration of Trade and Building of the Danish state, as to examples of urban reconversions in Europe exceeded by combined public-private investments.

Membership of the Architects' Section of the National Art Council 1984-87, The Royal Academy's advisors' town & country-committee 1986-90, New credit association's architecture committee 1987-91. Further KS was member of the board of the Danish Cultural Institute 1990-97, The Architects' Union's admission board 1982-2002 and Chairman of the Oerestad Council 1993-98 appointed by the Minister of Environment and Resources.

KS has written several articles and contributions to anthologies regarding architecture and urban planning. As a result of research periods and work as a planner in France she had the book ' Pièces Urbaines, Urban Fragments, New French urban scenography' published by The Danish Architectural Press, Copenhagen, 2002 (www.arkfo.com) and based on reseach and work in Greece 'Greek Architectture now' was published 2006 by studio art bookshop, Athens office@studiobookshop.com

 

Educational background

My research has as stated in the CV focused at several theemes: Architectural theories and urban development. contemporary French architecture and urban design, contemporary Greek architecture, kombinet private-public-financed urban conversions in Europe and research for development of alternative models of habitation for 4th age people (part of arcgh. Prof. Aase Eriksen's research project for realdania foundation by Centre of Housingh and Welfare 2005-6)

Ongoing research is the project 'Architectrue, Body & Space in co-operation with arch. Helle Böcken Wikke - the project focuses at analysing and illustrating the interplay between the senses and spaces with reference to phenomenology with the purpose to create better environments for the softer athletic activities like gymnastics, dance, yoga, swim etc. A selection of international examples of spaces are used to identify aesthetic qualities.

KS has educated architecture students during now 40 years - all levels from 1st year to diploma students and PhD's - during later terms she teaches a group of bachelor students.  She covers the whole span from urban planning to the art of building including courses and lectures, also for international students. Further ashe has organised and guided a lot of study travels and study exchanges - latest an international workshop in Lyon in October 2008 - 2nd part will take place in Copenhagen spring 2009.
