Research areas
Eva Knutz arbejder i sin forskning bl.a. med emotionsbegrebet og med social design. I sin ph.d. afhandling undersøgte hun, hvordan man gennem spilbaseret design kan kortlægge små børns følelser under deres hospitalsindlæggelse. Her udviklede hun et computerspil ”Child Patient Game” i tæt samarbejde med børneafdelingen og forskningsenheden på Kolding Sygehus. Eva Knutz har efterfølgende arbejdet videre med to forskningsprojekter: Det ene forskningsprojekt omhandler spildesign med ”Social Games” som omdrejningspunkt. Projektet undersøger hvordan Social Games kan styrke relationer mellem børn og deres indsatte fædre. I projektet samarbejder hun med TU Delft, Design Against Crime (Central St Martins, London), Arkitekskolen Aarhus og Det Danske Kriminal Forsorgen.
Det andet forskningsprojekt er et-årigt post-doc projekt i samarbejde med Sygehus Lillebælt hvor Eva Knutz undersøger begrebet Patient Demokrati. Her har hun udviklet redskaber og metoder til hvordan man kan forbedre en ”fælles beslutningstagen” (Shared Decision Making) i kræftbehandling og hvordan man kan give kræftpatienter mere kontrol og indsigt i eget behandlingsforløb. Forskningsprojektet er gennemført i tæt samarbejde med forskningsenheden på Vejle Sygehus, som har en særlig fokus på patientcentreret forskning.
Herudover har Eva Knutz en stor interresse i undervisningsbaseret designforskning, især indenfor spil design og design fiction.
Curriculum vitae
Eva Knutz graduated from Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, The Netherlands (1992-97). During her studies she did a one-year exchange programme at the Cooper Union School of Art, Design and Science in New York, USA (1995-96). In addition she has an additional two-year degree (Master of Fine Art) from the Frank Mohr Institute, Department of Digital Media and Environment, Hanze Hogeschool, Groningen University in The Netherlands (1997-99). In 2000-2008 Eva Knutz worked as an independent artist and designer based in Amsterdam. She has been associated with the Kolding School of Design since 2008.

2014-15: Assistant Professor, Kolding School of Design, Department of Communication Design.
2013-14: Post-doc project "Patient Democracy" in collaboration with Health Services Research Unit, Hospital Lillebaelt/IRS Vejle, University of Southern Denmark.
2009-13: PhD Student, Kolding School of Design. Thesis defended on 5 of March 2013.
2008-09: Research assistant. Pilot study at the Department of Paediatrics at Kolding Hospital. financed by Danish Centre for Design Research.
