Welfare and the Recent Past

Activity: Participating in or organising an event Participation in workshop, seminar, course

Description

Nordic post-war architecture is often considered as a relatively isolated phenomenon, generally evoking matters of identity and regional character, and frequently analysed from within a national narrative. The workshop will explore the translations of both modernist architecture and welfare state policies into different Nordic contexts, with the aim of comparing and discussing similarities, differences and international influences. An important task for this workshop will be to establish a common theoretical and methodical foundation for comparisons between the Nordic countries in architectural research.
