NATURE-IN: Danish Domestic Landmarks and the Japanese Tradition

Activity: Talk or presentation Lecture and oral contribution

Description

Some post-war domestic buildings built in Denmark provide exemplary sensory experiences of Nature by complex mechanisms. Moreover, fascinating analogies in terms of this Nature-connection with traditional Japanese architecture take place.
PhD architect Carmen García Sánchez presented part of her ongoing research project Nature-In, conducted at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen, unveiling how architectural interior design acts as a unique biophilic expression in her case-studies.
The purposes of the lecture were manifold: to enrich and transform our understanding of Danish domestic architecture, to stimulate the dialogue and interest in Nature-inclusive architectural interior design, and to phase in biophilic design in the built environment.
