A conversation based on the research based exhibition at show at ARoS Aarhus Art Museum (1-25 October 2020): "Nadja: A Portrait of a City", curated by Anne Elisabeth Toft.
Associate Professor, PhD Anne Elisabeth Toft and Associate Professor, PhD and Head of the Department of Art History , Aesthetics & Culture and Museology at Aarhus University Camilla Skovbjerg Paldam discuss the construction of the urban and the modern city in architectural photography and photobooks.The conversation focuses on the book Nadja from 1928 by the French author and founding member of the Surrealist Movement: André Breton; the surrealists and their notion of the collage, Breton's use of photography and his artistic methods and strategies.
