Abstract
Preparedness, vulnerability and resilience are key concepts in terms of the challenges urban areas are facing around the globe. Planning and architecture have a role to play and architects with their holistic and comprehensive approach to development and reconstruction are crucial actors in builidng back activities after a given catastrophe has strike. The article argues for more emphasis on enhancing the skills of the architecture profession in order to gain a more thoughly say in reconstruciion and disaster relief operations.
