Time as a Tool of Injustice

The two-screen video installation shows dual temporalities of spatial transformations in Palestine, highlighting how colonial timelines accelerate faster than those of indigenous world-making.

The history of colonial occupation and division of Palestine is long and layered. At the heart of it is a question of injustice. And justice, when applied to the Palestinian question, is primarily founded on a historically shifting equilibrium between equality and freedom.

The installation proposes to articulate how colonial timelines accelerate faster than those of indigenous world-making, by making visible how the traces on the ground, be it scars brought about by destruction, or evidence of new colonial settlements, reflect different strengths, hence velocities, of power. Conceived as a double screen in a corner, that show dual temporalities of spatial transformations, it is intended as a sensory experience as well as being a clear medium for information.
