Abstract
The article investigates the importance of measured survey in the danish architectural tradition. Two cases are presented: Casper Friedrich Harsdorff (1735–1799) and Carl Petersen (1874–1923). Lastly a contemporary perspective is presented through the works of Thomas Gronegger (b. 1965). The article demonstrates how measured survey is a means to acquire profound knowledge of the fundamental aesthetic principles of architecture.
