Abstract
'Mapping the Unseen' explores the influential role of information visualisation in practical applications and as an artistic research method.
The project is the result of a student workshop focusing on the mapping and reconstruction of public transportation spaces. It aims to redefine how we perceive public transportation spaces by shifting the focus from physical structures – such as buildings, furniture, and textiles – to highlighting the visual information we often overlook, such as pictograms, signs, maps, etc.
By mapping and reconstructing public transportation spaces using only these visual components, the project analyses how reorganising and redesigning these visual elements can provide new perspectives. Using graphic and information design as our point of departure, our methodology combines mapping, reconstruction and visualisation, serving as both a research method and a way to disseminate knowledge.
Participating students: BA tudents, second semester, Visual Design and Interaction, Royal Danish Academy – Architecture, Design, Conservation
