Abstract

This chapter introduces the child-centred design approach that enables designers to take the perspective of children when designing for play. By taking the starting point in the children instead of the product, makes it possible to ensure a high degree of relevancy in the design - seen from the perspective of the children. The child-centred design approach encourages the designers to participate in the children's everyday lives to gain an understanding of what they are designing for. For doing this, the chapter presents three child-centred design methods; internship as a child, co-creating the life of a child and comparing child-personas, all of them with the purpose of acknowledging the child as the expert - the expert of being a child.
