The Manifestations workshop presents a method for idea generation. It is based on the claim that the distinctive design-mindset is not a design-thinking, but a design-doing that is driven and stimulated by sensory impressions.
The designer manifests thinking in material and form and through ongoing dialogue with the substance, concepts are developed and tested.
Phenomena such as Rapid Prototyping, Tinkering and Material Driven Design are all variations of this.
The workshop's focus is on the use of physical representations as a method in divergent phases. The work consists of repeating physical representations of absurd words and aims at breaking down habitual thinking.
