Beskrivelse

Symposium: What does it mean to make an experiment? Friday 25.th of April 2014 venue: Auditorium 2, Holmen, Danneskiold-Samsøes Allé 51, Copenhagen What Does It Mean To Make An Experiment? is a research project between the School of Design and CITA that investigates the position, role and significance of the experiment within design led research. In architecture and design an experiment can take on many more roles than the prove of a thesis. The experiment is instead a particular mode of exploring the multiple and heterogeneous intersections that emerge from social, conceptual, technological, material and cultural contexts in which it is sited. Within the symposium we want to reflect the two years of the project and conclude. Within a set of lectures experimentation in design and architectural practice is discussed in respect to its site in knowledge production, the instruments used to execute these and the aims and methods that are linked to it. Two sessions will expand on this - each with a focus on different scales of inquiry.
